Harriette Elom is an exceptional education teacher who collaborates with teachers, parents, and community to enrich the learning experience for struggling readers. Harriette knows what strategies students must acquire to master the reading process. She tailors the learning experience to fit each student’s personal literacy needs, so the reader can achieve his or her college and career goals.

Harriette is a certified, highly qualified educator with twelve years of teaching experience in the classroom. She holds a BS degree in Secondary Education/ English Language Arts from Miles College and a MS degree in Secondary Collaborative/Exceptional Education from Samford University. She also worked with Jefferson County and Samford University’s “Pathways to Graduation” reading program for five years. Harriette is a trained Wilson and Verbalizing & Visualizing reading coach.

 In addition to her teaching experience, Harriette has been married for 28 years; she is also the proud mother of two young adults. In her previous career, Harriette earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Medical Technology. She worked as a clinical laboratory tech for 15 years performing chemistry, hematology, and microbiology testing on pediatric patients.
